This is day 9 of my Photo Advent Calendar. This was taken yesterday with the D3100 and Nikkor 18-70mm, unfortunately lost my lens cap getting this shot (dam wind). It was taken at 35mm to crush the distance a little and also to crop out unwanted objects such as wire from the bridge I was stood on. The shutter speed was 1/160th to make sure the shot was had no movement from myself or anything in the photo and to capture some movement in the water rather than it being a blurry wash.
In post I didn't crop the photo to keep it a 'full frame' photo and I raised clarity and contrast slightly to make the blacks and white more punchy and then also added gradient filters to the tom and bottom to even out the exposure. I also reduced the exposure by nearly a full stop to heighten the silhouettes and to bring out the definition in the sky and sun.
Finally in terms of colour i added some blue to the shadows and some yellow to the highlights to improve the natural blues and yellows in the photo. Lastly I added a 2% brown tint to the whole image to add again to the yellows.
